The Malloy, Overton, Mabry Utility Fund (MOM)

The MOM Fund is designed with two goals in mind: to assist low-income residents of Orange County with paying their utility bills and to promote financial literacy in the community. Residents receiving support from the fund are encouraged to seek financial literacy training through EmPOWERment housing counseling sessions and training videos.

Residents of Orange County seeking financial assistance from the MOM Fund should call our office at 919-967-8779. Individuals seeking assistance from the fund must bring a copy of their utility bill to that appointment and the bill must be in their name. The amount owed should not exceed $500 unless the individual has secured additional funds from other organizations. You can only receive funds once every 12 months.

EmPOWERment, Inc. is happy to provide interpreting services upon request for non -English speaking community members seeking financial assistance from the MOM Fund. If you require interpreting services, please call our office to schedule an appointment.

EmPOWERment, Inc. like to thank the Episcopal Church of the Advocate in Chapel Hill for their continued financial support of the MOM Fund.

The Utility Fund honors three "soldiers" of EmPOWERment who passed away in 2018:
