Position Description: Deputy Director
EMPOWERment Inc. (EI) is a community-based non-profit organization celebrating 25 years of excellent community service in the Orange County community. Our team of 5 people deliver big results to our community, managing 64 rentals, as well as providing housing/utility counseling, supporting minority and women owned businesses in the Midway Business Center and advocating for underserved communities. EI is currently building a 10-unit multi-family affordable housing project.
The Deputy Director position is a full-time exempt position that includes a full benefit package. It reports to the Executive Director. The Deputy Director will be an implementer whose hands-on approach complements the ED’s vision and charisma. The Deputy Director oversees all internal functions, from rental operations, budgets, to staff, freeing up the Executive Director to focus on external matters such as fundraising, public relations, and partnerships.
Responsibilities
Ensures the existing business infrastructure has the capacity to achieve the company’s strategic goals, and creates the operating procedures that the whole company will follow.
● Assess the efficiency of the company and work to improve the way the staff works together to achieve a
common goal according to a timeline.
● Assist with the management and day to day administration of the organization including finance, grant writing, and human resources.
● Oversee planning, maintenance and efficiency of projects
● Review budgets and staffing
● Ensure compliance on company, state and federal levels
● Align EMPOWERment’s branding with the organization’s activities on social media
Experience and qualifications
A combination of experience and education is required, providing the knowledge and skill sets to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
● A Master’s degree from an accredited program with an emphasis in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field is strongly preferred
● A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in the area of not-for-profit management, business administration, or a related field is preferred or
● Five to seven years of full-time, successful, paid work experience in nonprofit management- with major experience in operations administration, financial planning and budgeting, employee supervision, project management, database system assessment, and marketing.

● Skilled in strategic planning, project management, and organization. Ability to focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the details
● A passion for Community with a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
